What’s the Reality of Crypto in Crime?

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has established the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) to combat cyber and money laundering crimes in the crypto industry. While the team focuses on smaller issues like social media scams and online fraud, it has also uncovered significant amounts of stolen money and exposed confidence games. Less than 1% of total crypto transactions can be linked to illicit activities, but anecdotal evidence suggests a higher prevalence. Despite the risks, the openness and public nature of cryptocurrencies make them revolutionary and necessary.
